Description
This Bolo Tie has braided black leather and the arrowhead inspired sterling silver clasp features a Lapis Lazuli cabochon and sterling silver die struck concho and wire accents. The clasp has a brushed matte finish, the outer edge has a hand hammered texture, and hand forged tie slides on the back. Sterling silver beaded tipped tie ends add the finishing touch.
A die-struck object is produced by striking metal with a (very big!) hammer against a die with a design engraved in it. The hammer forces the metal into every crevice of the die cavity, and the metal forms into the shape of the die cavity.
From ancient cultures to today’s fashion runways, lapis lazuli has long been prized for its intense color. Lapis was among the first gemstones ever to be worn for adornment. It was valued by the ancient cultures of Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Egypt and Persia, where it was believed to have magical healing powers. Ancient Egyptians used Lapis Lazuli to create blue cosmetics. In the Renaissance, painters ground the stone to make the blue pigment used for skies and seas. Known to be the Wisdom Stone, Lapis Lazuli is said to bring deep peace, harmony, reveal inner truth, honesty, compassion, self-awareness, and self-expression.
You say you’d love to have a Bolo Tie but aren’t sure how to wear one? The traditional way to wear a Bolo Tie is to dress it up with a suit and collared shirt, just swap the necktie for a Bolo. Go business casual with a suit jacket or blazer, dark denim jeans, and collared shirt with the top button undone and wear the Bolo clasp loosened to the third button. Or, swap the blazer for a leather or denim jacket, keeping the collared shirt unbuttoned at the top and the Bolo clasp loosened so it sits around the 3rd button of your shirt and pair it with dark indigo or black jeans and cowboy or similar western heeled boots for a mix of contemporary style. There is no right or wrong way to wear a Bolo Tie as long as you wear it with confidence!
